OK, so this is such a random post. This morning I made coffee for my wife and she quiped, "I shall let you live another day", and I was like: "What is that quote from?" She wasn't aware that she was quoting anything, just thought it was a common joke. But I knew it from some story with a pirate, where he teases his young assistant each night.
I tried searching for that quote but my Google-fu was not strong enough. I thought maybe it was from Treasure Island; nope. I also noticed that Google search kept offering to auto-fill with essentially the same search, i.e., I was not the first person to try to identify this quote.
Finally, I realized that the actual quote was probably different, so I started experimenting with rewording it (also using shorter 'sections'). I finally hit paydirt with, "probably kill you tomorrow."
It's from The Princess Bride!
Westley tells Buttercup that he was apprenticed to the (previous) Dread Pirate Roberts, who told him each night:
"Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning."
So, hopefully, if anyone else is search for 'that' quote, Google will now find this post -- saving you the headache!
